Going to California....

We just got back last Sunday night from a trip to California to see Ralph's Grandparents! I have met Grandpa and absolutely love him, so it was time to meet Grandma. She is just as wonderful as I expected! We had a wonderful time and I cannot wait to go back and stay with them again. I thought it was also very special that Sylvie got to meet her Great Grandparents. I know we will go back to California often so that they can see her grow.

Packing for the trip- not so great. I could not believe how much 'stuff' we had to pack for an infant. This isn't even the half of it... in fact, this isn't even half of her carry on bag!

Sylvie was waiting patiently for the plane.
There were 3 other families traveling with infants on the same flight as us. We all ended up sitting around each other- I felt sorry for the passengers around us.
Sylvie as surprisingly pretty good throughout the flight. Ralph and I got a 'good parenting' compliment form the flight attendants as we exited. I think this is be
cause we actually changed her dirty diaper in the bathroom, instead of at the seat.

At the Great Grandparents house, Sylvie was right at home, as we
were. Ralph and I both thought that this was going to be the week that she started crawling, or at least turning over, but we were wrong. We tempted her A LOT though.

The first night we all had a 'martini'. Grandpa had to put vermouth and olives in Ralph and I's.
The second night I had took the wimp road and had a screwdriver.
All in all, we had a great time relaxing and visiting. Sylvie was at a great age where we actually got to enjoy her all day. She was in a good mood and played and giggled.

I don't think Grandma and Grandpa enjoyed her at all either.

The trip back was pretty much uneventful. We flew into Birmingham, landed at 11:30 on Saturday night, picked up all our baggage, went to the car, and what happened then? Nothing. The car battery was dead. Someone left the light on in the car. Luckily this must happen a lot at the airport, because a security guard came and helped us right away. Nothing like coming home after a 4 hour flight to a dead battery.

oh- and here is some pretty bark from a Californian tree!

Just as an FYI....that cute, little throw pillow on Sylvie's head was crocheted by her Great, Great Grandmother.
